Last Saturday, we ventured into Boston to walk part of the Freedom Trail.
Sara was a little nervous about the subway, but she ended up loving the train!

Then we saw the Robert Gould Shaw Monument. Robert Gould Shaw was a colonel in the Civil War that led a regiment of all black soliders. He fought for them to receive the same wages as their white counter parts and died while leading his men in a charge at Fort Wagner, South Carolina.

Here is the poem:
"Farewell Vain World I have enough of the(e)/ And now I'm careless what thou say of me/ What Fault thou see in me/ Take care to shun/ There work within thy self/ That should be done/ Thy smiles I court nor thy frowns I fear/ My cares are past my head lies quiet here"
Here is Samuel Adams:

The Old State House: This is where the Declaration of Independence was first read to Bostonians. Queen Elizabeth II gave a speech here on the bi-centennial celebration of America's independence. Interesting, isn't it?
