Walden Pond

On Sunday we headed to Walden Pond.  It was a little chilly, but it was very nice after sending a day in the city!

It was quite chilly so we dressed warm! Here is Sara:

The Freedom Trail

Last Saturday, we ventured into Boston to walk part of the Freedom Trail.

Sara was a little nervous about the subway, but she ended up loving the train!

First up was the State House:

Then we saw the Robert Gould Shaw Monument.  Robert Gould Shaw was a colonel in the Civil War that led a regiment of all black soliders.  He fought for them to receive the same wages as their white counter parts and died while leading his men in a charge at Fort Wagner, South Carolina.

Next was the Park Street Church:

Next to that was the Granary Burying Ground:

One with an interesting poem:

Here is the poem:
"Farewell Vain World I have enough of the(e)/ And now I'm careless what thou say of me/ What Fault thou see in me/ Take care to shun/ There work within thy self/ That should be done/ Thy smiles I court nor thy frowns I fear/ My cares are past my head lies quiet here"

It was on to King's Chapel and its burying ground:

At this point in the trail Sara needed a snack, so we stepped into a Starbucks (of course!) Don't worry its just chocolate milk in the cup :)

The Old State House:  This is where the Declaration of Independence was first read to Bostonians.  Queen Elizabeth II gave a speech here on the bi-centennial celebration of America's independence.  Interesting, isn't it?

Not long after that, Sara feel asleep so we left the rest of the Freedom Trail for another day and instead explored an old Boston neighborhood called Beacon Hill

Birthday Girl!!!

Sara got her special day started by helping Daddy to make some yummy pancakes! Unfortunately, after that Sara had a checkup at the doctor's and had to get blood drawn and a flu shot... not fun on your birthday! (Oh yeah, and she got a haircut the day before!)

Foliage Watch '08

Ok, warning, this might be a bit geeky! BUT since we're in New England and I am regularly faced with parking on the roof of the garage at the gym, I thought I would start a foliage watch :)  Here are some pictures from the first two weeks:

Strolling baby and other fun things

Sara and I had a great week so far... just about every afternoon we stroll baby to the park down the street:

Did someone say Terrible Twos??? Depending on how good a nap Sara had, we get 1 to a million of these a day!

But after ignoring her a little while, she recovers and we go do something fun!

Today Sara made a friend at the park. She loved the attention from an older kid... it was TOO cute!

Daddy came by the park on his way home... Sara tried on his helment (backwards!)
